Optical Communications Engineer - #AM3275
Location: Lexington MA Duration 1-3 years

Description:
 Optical Communications Engineer to perform a variety of important tasks in the development of custom optical communications systems. The Optical Communications Engineer will be part of a small team of experienced technical staff developing electro-optics subsystems that will be used for communication between the earth and a satellite in lunar orbit. He/she will use high-quality, dedicated laboratory equipment and electro-optics hardware.Test and characterization of fiber-optic components.Fusion splicing specialty fiber types, optimizing splicing parameters for dissimilar fiber types.Developing data acquisition and instrument control software to support testing needs.Interacting with vendors and technical staff.Skills :
Laboratory experience working with lasers and fiber-optic components, including fiber splicing.Experience w/data acquisition and instrument control.Self starter willing to support the laboratory and learn new skills.Ability to help troubleshoot optical, software, electronic, and mechanical issues as they arise.Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or PhysicsMatlab and LabVIEW programming experience desired.A minimum of 3-5 years experience**Must be US Citizen and qualify for Secret Clearance**call 603-437-8072 or e-mail staffing@iam29inc.com
